Recently we shared with your our guide to visiting Hampstead. This time we thought we’d dive into another popular spot, Westminster. Westminster is, of course, the seat of power in Britain. It’s where many of the popular tourist sites are found from Big Ben to Westminster Abbey. The skyline sitting above the Thames is famous the world over.

Great sights to see in Westminster

When you think of London sights, many of them happen to be Westminster sights. It’s a concentrated spot for ticking off lots of the top places to go. The Houses of Parliament, correctly known as The Palace of Westminster, is where you’ll also find Big Ben. Number 10 Downing Street, home to British Prime Ministers, is also within Westminster and you can catch a glimpse from the end of the street. Churchill War Rooms offer another fascinating insight into Britain’s political past. Westminster Abbey is awe-inspiring and has been the place of 16 royal weddings. Just to the side of the Abbey’s main entrance is a very small arch which will take you through to Dean’s Yard where you’ll find a quiet spot next to this majestic building. Westminster is also home to Buckingham Palace and you can watch the Changing of the Guards as well as visit the state rooms of the Palace during the summer months. You can also go to Whitehall and the Horse Guards Parade which is where the Changing of the Guard set off from. The South Bank is a great spot to walk along the Thames (and get views of the Houses of Parliament) and it’s here that you’ll find many of the big London attractions such as The London Eye, London Dungeon and the SEA LIFE Aquarium. The Tate Britain is one of the UK’s hubs of art and culture, has free entry, and is a great place to be. Also in Westminster you can enjoy strolls and picnics in St James’s Park.
